Karin — dyer & creative heart
A few years ago I rediscovered knitting and have been interested in yarns, colors and how yarn is produced ever since. Yarn dyeing came along and has captivated me ever since. It is fascinating to experiment with color, seeing how the same color differs when applied to different yarns.
Each new color is beautiful in itself and will find a person for whom it is the perfect color — no matter if it was developed by pure chance or strictly mixed using a recipe. From our studio in Murnau am Staffelsee, surrounded by the Bavarian Alps, Karin created yarns inspired by the lakes, forests, and mountains of Upper Bavaria.
Together with Marco, who built and ran the shop, Luxx Yarns became a small but passionate brand — known for rich, nature-inspired colorways and luxurious fiber blends.
Each yarn base was carefully chosen for its unique qualities — from the buttery softness of yak to the rustic charm of linen. Every skein was dyed by hand in small batches.
A collection of beautiful projects created by our community — each one a testament to the joy of working with hand-dyed yarn.
Stories, musings, and updates from the dye studio — a collection of thoughts shared over the years.
